While the major parties often rely on the apathy of the Australian electorate, we believe that participation is a critical part of democracy. The Australian Greens originated as a social movement, and we continue to encourage our members to be active - both inside and outside of the party.
Action can take many forms. Donating to the Australian Greens helps us to make a difference. Small donations from individuals are our life blood. That’s because unlike the big parties, we don’t accept donations from unethical big businesses. Joining the Greens is another important step to being more involved. We rely on both members and supporters for their continuing support through volunteering or becoming a regular donor. Regardless of your political opinions, we believe it is important that all Australians make sure they are enrolled to vote, and that they fully understand the preferential voting system used in Australia.
Involvement isn't just about elections. As an Australian, you have the right to be heard, and we encourage you to write letters to your representatives to exercise that right, and to attend events on important issues.
What Can I do now?
If you want to help Ted in North Sydney click here to email Ted's Campaign Committee or phone 0408 210 552. There is always work to do - letterboxing, leafleting and staffing polling booths on election day.
Click here if you want to donate to help the Greens fight the 2007 Election .
Of course you can also join the Greens to make a difference!
